Associate Professor of Spanish and Humanities
Spanish Department
Division of Literature and Languages

I hold a PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures (Spanish) from the University of Michigan (2012) and joined ºìÌÒÊÓƵ in August 2014. I also hold a master’s degree in urban planning and studies from Michigan, and was a practitioner architect before turning to academia. My area of specialization is 20th and 21st century Latin American literature and culture with an emphasis on contemporary Central America, Mexico and Peru. My research interests include critical, spatial and political theory, state violence and the languages of resistance, and the relation between culture, politics and the production of space, all of which I strive to incorporate in my teaching. I am currently at work on a book-length project on the languages and spaces of (counter)insurgency in Latin America.
