Electronic Thesis Submission

Fall 2024 thesis submission process:

  1. The student provides the thesis adviser with a PDF of a properly-formatted thesis draft (must use one of the available templates for correct formatting). The thesis adviser approves the document for submission by providing the student a proof of approval document in PDF format (a PDF of a ºìÌÒÊÓƵ email is sufficient).

  2. Once the thesis adviser approves and no later than 3pm on Friday, December 6, the student submits a PDF of the thesis adviser approval -AND- a PDF of the final thesis via the
  3. Once the submission of the thesis is confirmed, registrar staff will notify the student and thesis adviser and set the status to under review.

  4. The student must then immediately (the same day!) distribute a copy of the thesis to each member of the orals board. To ensure the orals board has enough time to review the thesis before the exam, it is critical that the thesis is provided to them immediately upon confirmation that the thesis has been successfully submitted. (Please note: Some orals board members may want a hardcopy).

  5. The library will follow up with students on required format changes to their thesis after it is submitted. See the for details on required formatting.

  6. After the oral exam, the student must make any edits required by the orals board and all formatting updates required by the library. We recommend that this is done right after the exam so the final thesis can be submitted earlier than the library deadline.

  7. As soon as possible but no later than noon on Friday, December 20, the student will upload their corrected thesis through the . The library will check that the thesis meets the guidelines and notify the student if their submission has been approved or if further changes are required.

**Please note: The library thesis submission is a degree requirement! The library will coordinate and cover the cost of printing and binding the two library thesis copies. If personal copies are desired, please submit the Google form on the Print Services website.

If so, they may request the extension and upload proof of the thesis adviser’s approval in PDF format (a PDF of a ºìÌÒÊÓƵ email is sufficient) via the before 3pm on Friday, December 6. There are two extension options:

  1. Weekend extension - the thesis is due no later than 3pm on Monday, December 9. Taking the weekend extension may require rescheduling the oral exam.
  2. Winter extension - the thesis is due no later than 3pm on Monday, January 27, 2025. Taking the winter extension results in a delay of your graduation date to the spring semester (or later if there are other outstanding requirements).
