Description

The is a fully funded, full time, postgraduate award which enables talented young people from around the world to study at the . It is the oldest and one of the most prestigious international scholarship programs in the world. This scholarship looks for young people of outstanding intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service.

Rhodes Scholars go to the UK for two or more years and can apply to study most full-time postgraduate courses offered by Oxford University. The scholarship covers course fees and provides an annual stipend to cover accommodation and living expenses. They also cover visa fees, the National Health Service fee, airfare to and from the UK, and offer a settling in allowance upon arrival in Oxford.

Eligibility

Applicants for the Rhodes scholarship via the United States constituency (this is most students) must

• be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or students who have an active status under the DACA program;
• be aged 18–23 on October 1st 2024;
  • OR (for older non-traditional candidates who completed their first undergraduate degree later than usual) be under 27 on October 1st 2024 AND must have graduated on or after October 1st 2023;
• have a minimum GPA of 3.70 (with no rounding);
• graduate with your B.A. by July 2025.

If you are not a U.S. citizen you may still be eligible to apply for the Rhodes Scholarship with one of the following statuses:

• Applying through a different country's constituency
• Inter-Jurisdictional (you only meet some of the eligibility requirements for two constituencies)
• Global (only available if you don't qualify for an inter-jurisdictional application)

Please refer to the Rhodes for more details on these possibilities, and note that these methods have earlier external deadlines, and may or may not require an institutional endorsement. If you apply through through a different constituency (country) than the U.S., you will likely not be able to apply through ºìÌÒÊÓƵ's internal process.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria outlined by the scholarship are

• literary and scholastic attainments (academic excellence);
• energy to use one's talents to the full (as demonstrated by mastery in areas such as sports, music, debate, dance, theatre, and artistic pursuits, particularly where teamwork is involved);
• truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship;
• moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one's fellow beings.
