The Office for Student Engagement is located in the Student Center, and staff are available 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. The Student Center building is open to students, staff, and faculty from 8:30 a.m.–midnight.

Before coming to ºìÌÒÊÓƵ, Janice (she/her/hers) held leadership positions at a national youth development nonprofit organization where her work focused on ensuring that underserved and marginalized youth had equitable access to mentorship, experiential education opportunities, and resources to help them succeed to and through college. In her free time, Janice enjoys baking and wearing out her shoes walking around town.

Sabrina Murray (She/Her) is a proud Washingtonian and loves to spend time with her partner, family, and friends. Sabrina holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Anthropology with minors in English and Ethnic Studies from Lewis & Clark College (LC) in Portland, Oregon. Sabrina’s lived experiences as a transracial adoptee (TRA) influence her passion for social justice work. Sabrina’s mentor from LC was another strong motivation for her to pursue a career in Student Affairs. After receiving her B.A., she went to the University of Maine to pursue her Master’s of Education in Student Development in Higher Education with a concentration in Multicultural Student Development. During her time at UMaine, she was an Assistant Community Coordinator in Residence Life, an intern in UMaine’s Office for Diversity and Inclusion, Academic Support Services for Student-Athletes, Office for Student’s Rights and Responsibilities, and at Central Maine Community College helping establish diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. As a TRA scholar, Sabrina’s first published work is out now in the E-Book “Transracial Adoptee and Multiracial Perspectives: Navigating Higher Education Spaces as Our Authentic Selves.” Her next publication will be coming out in the Fall of 2023 in “Blurring Boundaries and Binaries: Belonging, Gender, & Mixed Heritages in Higher Education in the United States.”

Jen (she/her/hers) grew up in Oregon where she spent the majority of her adolescent years chasing a soccer ball and exploring the Pacific Northwest outdoors. Jen holds a B.S. in Public Health (course concentration in Community Health Education) & Psychology from Portland State University. In her role with Student Engagement, she hopes to support ºìÌÒÊÓƵies in building student lead organizations and programs that are meaningful to themselves, and expand their community here at ºìÌÒÊÓƵ. Jen also hopes to keep all of the plants alive in ºìÌÒÊÓƵ’s Student Center (feel free to stop by and check on their growth!).
Before coming to ºìÌÒÊÓƵ, Jen has worked with State and University public health programs, as well as outpatient clinical healthcare organizations focusing on equitable access to healthcare for underserved communities in the Portland-Metro area. Outside of work you can find Jen exploring Portland’s many neighborhoods for the best cup of tea, running outside, watching reality TV, and pressing flowers for various art projects.
