The Student Center

Welcome to the Student Center! This is a unique, shared space that serves as both an informal community gathering space for students and a working environment for professional and student staff in the Office for Student Engagement (OSE), the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC), and Students for Education, Equity, and Direct Service (SEEDS).

The building is unlocked during business hours, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. After 5:00 PM students and staff may access the building with their swipe cards until 12:00 AM. After 12:00 AM, swipe access is disabled.

Available Space

Unless reserved, all of the spaces listed below are available for use by students and staff.

Student Work Space (Rooms 101, 114 & 201)

These student work offices are located on the first and second floor of the Student Center, and can comfortably seat 2 - 3 people. Each room has one computer desktop that students can login to using their ºìÌÒÊÓƵ credentials. Students can use these spaces for open office hours, hosting study groups, or as a private space to do their homework. To reserve a work space, please follow the room reservation guidelines below. Please be advised that room 201, located on the second floor of the Student Center, is only accessible by staircase.

Conference Room (Room 122)

The conference room is located on the first floor of the Student Center, and it seats up to 7 people. It has a mounted monitor on the wall for presentations, and a whiteboard. This room can be reserved by following the reservation guidelines below.

Living Room

This is a flexible, open space that is available for use by students and staff to hold events, conversations, office hours, meetings, etc. and/or for students who need a place to rest, eat a meal, or gather. Please be mindful that this is a shared, open space that both students and staff will need to access, even when reserved. To reserve this space please follow the reservation guidelines below.

Multicultural Resource Center Student Lounge (Room 205)

The MRC's Student Lounge provides a welcoming space that promotes the experiences of Black, Indigenous, and Students of Color, and provides a multipurpose use space for all students to meet, gather, relax, study, rest, and be in community. All are welcome in this space. The lounge is located on the second floor of the Student Center Building and is only accessible by staircase. It is not a reservable space so that it can remain open and available for student use.

Kitchen

The kitchen is located on the first floor and has a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, tea kettle, utensils, and dishware which are all available for general use.

How to Book Space in the Student Center

Our student work offices (101, 114 & 201), conference room (122), and the living room are bookable directly from your google calendar. If a space is not already reserved, it is open for you to use on a first come, first serve basis.

Here are steps to help you make your reservation:

  • Open your Google calendar (please make sure you are logged into your ºìÌÒÊÓƵ student email)
  • Select the time frame you would like to reserve
  • A box will appear that will allow you to include your booking details
  • Include any and all relevant details for your event
  • You will see an area that asks you to include a room or location, you will want to select ‘Add rooms’.
  • A new menu should pop up where you can type in the name of the room you would like to reserve (e.g. 'Student Center 122').
    • If the room does not appear, or appears crossed out, then it is already booked at this time.
    • If the room does appear, you will be able to select and officially book the room.
    • *When Booking a Repeating Event: please make sure that the room you are reserving is available for all desired dates by manually checking each date reservation.
