Official Transcripts

Students who attended ºìÌÒÊÓƵ prior to 1982 can only request an official transcript by submitting a Transcript Request Form. Please note, it will be necessary to verify your identity before fulfilling your request. 

Current students, alumni, and former students who attended ºìÌÒÊÓƵ after 1982 can order official transcripts online via ºìÌÒÊÓƵ’s secure transcript service, . A major credit/debit card is necessary to place a transcript order. The Registrar’s Office does not provide nor mail paper official transcripts directly from our office. Paper transcripts must be ordered through and they will be mailed from their remote fulfillment center. Students are encouraged to order official electronic transcripts whenever feasible to ensure timely fulfillment and avoid delivery costs in excess of ºìÌÒÊÓƵ’s $5 transcript fee.

Official transcript orders are processed Monday-Friday during normal business hours. Paper transcripts are subject to USPS and FedEx delivery timetables. Requests for official transcripts are accepted but not immediately fulfilled during end-of-semester activities in late December/early January and late May – please consult the ‘Announcements’ section of the Registrar’s homepage for more information if requesting an official transcript during those periods.  

Grades at ºìÌÒÊÓƵ information is sent with all official transcripts (electronic and print), intended to give the recipient a better understanding of the ºìÌÒÊÓƵ grading system and its comparatively modest grade inflation.

The Transcript Key is on the reverse side of an official ºìÌÒÊÓƵ transcript.

Unofficial Transcripts

Current students and most alumni (individuals who attended or graduated since 2010) and former students may view and/or download an unofficial transcript at no cost via ºìÌÒÊÓƵ’s secure portal . Contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@reed.edu or 503-517-4119 if you encounter difficulties accessing .

  1. Log into IRIS and go to the “Student Information” section. 
  2. Click the ‘Documents’ tab. 
  3. A document titled “Unofficial ºìÌÒÊÓƵ Transcript” with a date will appear in your list of records. 
  4. Please note: Do NOT click “View” if you do NOT wish to view your unofficial transcript, including course grades and GPA.
    By clicking “Download” you can save the unofficial transcript, then attach it to an email or upload it to an application WITHOUT viewing it. (You may want to try downloading a different document first to ensure that your browser does not automatically open it.)

Updated unofficial transcripts are not immediately available during end-of-semester activities in late December/early January and late May – please consult the ‘Announcements’ section of the Registrar’s homepage for more information if seeking an unofficial official transcript during those periods.

Document Authentication (Apostille)

Some countries require authentication (sometimes called an Apostille) of a transcript, diploma, or other document. If your country requires an Apostille, the Registrar’s Office will facilitate the procurement of authentication from the Oregon Secretary of State. 

Official Transcripts

  1. Order a print transcript through , our secure transcript service, and have it mailed to:

  2. Complete a .

  3. Mail your completed request form along with two stamped envelopes to the ºìÌÒÊÓƵ Registrar’s Office at the address above (prepaid envelopes, labels, or airbills such as those available from FedEx or USPS with a trackable service may be desirable). Address one of the stamped envelopes to whomever should receive the Apostille document(s). The second prepaid envelope should be addressed to the Oregon Secretary of State at:

  4. The Registrar’s Office will match your official transcript to your request form and submit them to the Secretary of State using the stamped envelope that you provided.

  5. The Secretary of State will authenticate the transcript, create an Apostille, and use the stamped envelope that you provided to send it to whomever you indicated on your request form.

Diploma or other document

  1. Send a clear copy (pdf) of the diploma or document to registrar@reed.edu. Indicate that it is for an Apostille. Alternatively, you can mail a photocopy of the diploma or document, along with the materials detailed in steps 2 and 3 below, to:

  3.   4. The Registrar’s Office will certify that the copy of the diploma or other document is true and correct, match it to your request form, and submit them to the Secretary of State using the stamped envelope that you provided.

  5. The Secretary of State will authenticate the diploma or other document, create an Apostille, and use the stamped envelope that you provided to send it to whomever you indicated on your request form.

Notarized Letter

When a third party (e.g. potential employer, organization, or other body) requires that a document (e.g. transcript or diploma) be authenticated - but authorization from a state official is not required - a notarized letter from the Registrar’s Office attesting to its authenticity is typically sufficient. Please contact the Registrar’s Office via phone at 503-777-7793 or email at registrar@reed.edu to request such a letter.

Replacement Diplomas

The fee for a replacement diploma is $50 and may take 4 to 6 weeks for production and delivery. The replacement diploma will indicate that it is a replacement. 

To order a replacement diploma, send an email request to registrar@reed.edu. It will be necessary to verify your identity and the validity of your email address before your request is fulfilled. Your graduation status will also be verified by the Registrar’s Office.

For payment, you may send a $50 dollar check/money order issued to ºìÌÒÊÓƵ via the address below or pay online through our Business Office's webpage: /business. To pay online, just click the 'Make a Payment as a Guest' button on the left side of the page, type in your personal information, and put the total charge ($50) for your order in the Tuition/Business Office Account Payment section (be careful as a fee may be charged for insufficient funds or incorrect information).
